Jaguars are often found in water and are excellent swimmers from a young age. In fact, they catch most of their food in the water. Taken in the Cuiaba river of Brazil's Pantanal on 7 June 2022 from a boat. Sleek and shy female jaguar "Ti", aka "Ryan" did not know that a huge male, Dumé, was dozing on a sandbank downstream. She saw him before he saw her, and she quickly crawled on land and disappeared in the thicket. We were able to float close to her before that since the jaguars in this stretch of the river ( the Parque Estadual Encontro das Águas) are habituated and usually ignore humans.
